Congratulations to our January Athlete of the Month: Jared "Rusty" Kent! Rusty has progressed immensely as an athlete, pushing himself even on movements that challenge him. A staple of the 6am class, Rusty has a great attitude and always tackles even the most difficult WODs with a can-do spirit (and a few jokes). Rusty takes his fitness seriously, but never takes himself too seriously. In short, Rusty puts the FUN in functional fitness and we're so glad to have him as a part of our community!
A little more about Jared...
How was I introduced to CrossFit?
I was at a wedding talking to a buddy of mine and his sister in law who at the time had just got into crossfit. She was trying to talk us into signing up and I was at the point of the night that i would of done anything anyone asked me to do.. So we both said we'd do it and signed up the next day. That was 5 years ago.. I'm still going.. they are not.
My favorite WOD/exercise is?
Don't really have a favorite but like long drag em out chipper style wods
My 3 favorite movements are?
Cleans, push press, dumbbell snatches
If i never had to do this exercise again i would be psyched:
Handstand push ups make me dizzy
My favorite cheat meal is:
Late night McDonalds, any extra value meal with a 6 piece nugget as an appetizer.
My proudest CrossFit accomplishment is?
Finally getting overhead squats without resting the barbell on top of my head.
My six month goal is?
Be athlete of the month again
If I created a WOD and named it after myself it would be:
Obviously have to call it "Rusty" and its got to be down and dirty.. Trail run, tire flips into dumbell snatches... in the rain.
