Mareana really does kick ass!
She is such a great role model and inspiration to everyone here.
Keep on doing what you do!
How was I introduced to Crossfit: I was bored with my running routine and I saw a lawn sign for the new Crossfit in Bourne. I looked up the number online and accidentally called UCCF instead of Bourne Crossfit! So I found UCCF by mistake. True Story.
My Favorite WOD/exercise is: Victoria. I had only just completed the Elements class and this was one of the my very first WODs. I found it really touching there was a workout dedicated to the Sandy Hook teacher who bravely died comforting and protecting her students. And this workout wipes me out every time.
If I never had to do this exercise again I would be psyched: Pistols
My favorite cheat food/meal is: Lemon Cake with lemon glaze. And Vanilla Cake with fondant icing. I love cake.
My proudest CrossFit accomplishment is: Returning to the gym every day for almost a year while scaling/modifying every workout when I was rehabbing a (pre-existing) injury. Returning to square one, going back to an empty bar or even a PVC pipe, was hard day in and day out. Evaluating my technique and building back up slowly was humbling but has made me a better and more patient athlete. And pull ups.
My six month goal is: To keep getting faster and stronger. To have a better time six months from now during the 12 Days of Christmas workout and have the Ugliest Christmas sweater that day.
If I created a WOD and named it after myself, the workout would be: After asking to re-do a WOD Amy was so kind to name it Mareana and I love it! 3 Rounds for Time of 400m row, 30 Wall Balls, 20 AbMat Sit-ups, and 10 Box Jumps. But I’d add a 800 meter run or 1000 meter row cash out and the song “Break My Stride” by Matthew Wilder playing on a loop in the background.
What I love about UCCF: I love that everyone is happy to be here. Everyone is so helpful and positive it really makes you feel like you’re a member of a team. I get to go somewhere and take off my work and mom hat for an hour and just get sweaty and laugh.
Anything else? Thanks to the coaches and community who create and maintain such a positive and welcoming environment! This place is my “Cheers” (where everybody knows my name.)
