Congratulations to Alissa Santarpia (and Baby S), our February Athlete(s) of the Month! Alissa has been consistently Wodding throughout her entire pregnancy. She comes in every week without fail, puts in the work, and motivates everyone around her. As one coach put it, "Alissa for obvious reasons of crushing it everyday while pregnant." She is an amazing role model for all of us!
How I was introduced to CrossFit: I started Crossfit 4 years ago. I decided to try it when I was getting bored by going to the gym. I needed something that would challenge me more. Crossfit seemed like it it had a higher intensity level than any of the classes I was into at the time. I brought by boyfriend Brad along to try it too.
My three favorite movements are: Sit ups, double unders, and handstand walks.
If I never had to do this exercise again I would be psyched: Thrusters
My favorite cheat food/meal is: Pizza!
My proudest accomplishment is: Learning how to climb the rope!
My six month goal is: To be back to my pre-baby baseline.
What I love most about UCCF: The community. We have such an awesome group of people that I get to spend time with on a regular basis. They are like family to me. The coaches and fellow athletes are such a supportive bunch, and I look forward to seeing them inside and outside the box. They've been so encouraging throughout this pregnancy, and if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be feeling so good. I eat better, sleep better, and am more productive when I go to Crossfit. UCCF was one of the things that I missed most when we were half way around the world, and it's so great to be back!!!
