How I was introduced to CrossFit: I’ve always been involved in sports. I played softball in college and was always looking for ways to stay in shape during our off seasons. I was home for summer vacation during school and my dad told me to give CrossFit a try with him. I had no idea what it was, but he kept raving about it. From there, I did it sporadically as softball was taking up most of my time. When I graduated, I was able to do it more consistently. Now I can’t imagine my life without it and I have met so many great people from it.
My favorite WOD/exercise is: It’s a tie between Grace and Annie.
My 3 favorite movements are: Back squats, Kettlebell swings, double-unders
If I never had to do this exercise again I would be psyched: DEFINITELY the assault bike. Although now that I have been using it more, I’m starting to just embrace the suck and welcome the guarantee that I will get a great work out from it.
My favorite food/cheat meal is: Favorite Food: Sweet Potatoes in any form. Cheat Meal: Ernestos Pizza from the North End.
My proudest CrossFit accomplishment is: I am in the Coast Guard, so I always have to be ready to pack up and move somewhere new. I think it’s hard and sometimes intimidating to walk in to a CrossFit gym by yourself where you are unfamiliar and don’t know anyone. I am proud of being able to walk into new gyms and make it my home for the time being. When I walked in to Upper Cape, I felt so welcomed right away. I never felt like the new person and they have made my time so far in the Cape really great!
My six month goal is: My dad is pretty into crossfit as well. I hate to admit this, but he usually beats me in WODs (ugh!). Him and I have always wanted to do a partner competition together. So within the next 6 months, I would love to do that with him!
